P-Bandai is Bandai's online direct store — Premium Bandai. Kits sold here are exclusive, often limited-run, and not available in any retail store. They're also frequently the most in-demand kits in the hobby.
What makes a kit "P-Bandai"?
When Bandai announces a kit on the Premium Bandai storefront it's exclusive to that channel for at least a set period. Some eventually get general retail releases; most never do. P-Bandai kits include:
- Color variants ("clear", "Titans blue", "Pearl Gloss")
- Completed variants with extra parts (Full Armor, Enhanced version)
- Collaboration kits (Evangelion MG, Mazinger crossovers)
- Out-of-plan kits Bandai won't commit to retail ("no demand data")
Why do P-Bandai kits go above retail?
Premium Bandai opens order windows — often 30–90 days — then ships 6–12 months later. Once the order window closes, the only way to get the kit is secondary market (eBay, Mercari JP, Yahoo Auctions JP). Limited editions from popular series regularly sell at 150–300% of retail.
How to buy P-Bandai outside Japan
Premium Bandai ships internationally now via their global storefront. But stock moves fast during order windows. Options:
- Bandai Namco store (global) — direct, but sells out quickly during windows
- HLJ P-Bandai section — HLJ stocks select P-Bandai items for international buyers; often the easiest option with reliable shipping
- AmiAmi — stocks some P-Bandai items pre-order; good if you have an account already
- Forwarding services (Tenso, Buyee) — buy direct from the JP Premium Bandai site, ship to a forwarding address, then to you. More steps but occasionally the only way to get something
